Dr. Ami Owen, Ph.D., LMFT, CCTP

Dr. Ami Owen received her undergraduate degree in Social Science and a minor in Psychology. She received her master’s in general Family Therapy with an advanced emphasis on families and trauma. Dr. Owen also received a Doctorate in Counseling, is a Clinically Certified Trauma Professional for both families and individuals and has advanced training with first responders. Dr. Owen is also Parents As Teachers (PAT) certified and specializes in the parent/child relationship. She is licensed in ID, WA, AZ, TX, FL, CA and is a nationally approved supervisor through the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). She has worked in a variety of settings such as private practice, managing non-profit organizations, insurance companies, and the public health sector. Dr. Owen has served in a leadership capacity with the Idaho chapter of AAMFT, as a board member of the Governor’s early education council, helped develop the Infant Mental Health program at the Central District Health Department and is the recipient of Idaho Federation of Families Children’s Advocacy Award. She takes delight in mentoring therapists on the complexities of family systems and consults with providers across the country to improve systems approaches.
