Emily Craner

Counselor in Training and Doctoral Student (Northwest Nazarene University, Clinical Psychology)

I have always had a passion for helping those who are recovering from trauma, addiction, or any mental health struggle that is preventing them from feeling in control of themselves or their lives. My approach is to let the client lead where they would like to go since I feel that they alone know themselves the best and needing help to heal is no reason to believe that they are not in control. I work on changing thought patterns and allowing a person to view themselves in a healthier way that allows for personal growth and long lasting changes.

Emily is currently in a doctoral program to receive her degree and licensing in Psychology from Northwest Nazarene University and is to receive her master’s at the end of the year. She has received her bachelor’s in psychology from Boise State University and has been licensed in Peer Support training where she worked with Social Services.

Emily uses a style of Rogerian theory and Cognitive Behavioral Theory in her approach. She views the way a person thinks about themselves and their environment to be crucial to their health and feels that therapy should be person centered. She has training in Play Therapy.
