My approach integrates evidence-based interventions with a person-centered perspective, recognizing the unique strengths and cultural identities of each individual. I am passionate about ethical practice, social justice, and the use of innovative technologies to enhance the therapeutic experience and counselor education.
Dr. April Crable, earned her B.A. in Criminal Justice from Old Dominion University, her MBA from the University of Phoenix, and her M.A. in Professional Counseling and Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Regent University. She is a professor in Counselor Education and Family Studies at Liberty University and has worked in the mental health field for almost two decades, providing services to diverse populations. With over ten years of experience as a counselor educator, Dr. Crable has contributed extensively to the profession through teaching, research, and clinical supervision. She is the owner of CCCDW, LLC, a mental health practice, and has published numerous books and peer-reviewed journal articles. Additionally, she has presented at state, national, and international conferences on a range of counseling topics.
Dr. Crable specializes in teletherapy, crisis and trauma counseling, substance abuse treatment, ethics, and sex offender treatment. Her counseling style is integrative, blending cognitive-behavioral, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approaches to support clients in achieving meaningful change. As co-founder of CliniVRSE, she has pioneered the use of virtual reality technology to enhance clinical training and decision-making in counselor education. Dr. Crable also serves as an appointed member of CACREP’s Anti-Racism & Anti-Oppression Council demonstrating her commitment to advancing ethical and culturally responsive counseling practices.
