Tim Linnins

Case Manager and Masters of Social Work Student (Boise State University)

I believe in a non‑oppressive, antiracist, strengths‑based, and holistic philosophy of mental
health and healing. I believe that true well‑being emerges when people are met with respect,
cultural humility, and shared power, rather than judgment or hierarchy. My approach honors the
whole person—mind, body, spirit, relationships, and community—while recognizing the impact
of systemic inequities on mental health. I center each person’s inherent resilience and wisdom,
working collaboratively to amplify strengths, nurture connection, and support healing that is
liberating, culturally grounded, and deeply human.

Tim is currently pursuing his Master of Social Work at Boise State University. Immediately after
high school, he joined the United States Navy, serving in the Submarine Force. After the Navy,
Tim obtained his Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Juris
Doctor from the University of South Carolina. He then practiced law for over twenty years,
spending most of his career as a prosecutor focusing on crimes committed against children and
other vulnerable individuals. For the past year, Tim has worked as a certified peer support
specialist and community-based rehabilitation services specialist assisting individuals with
mental health challenges to build life skills for independence in areas such as vocational,
financial, social, and basic living skills.

Tim’s social work areas of interest are based in Trauma‑Informed Care and shaped by a deep
commitment to supporting individuals navigating the impacts of trauma, substance use, and
major life transitions. He has a strong commitment to working with veterans and others whose
experiences require culturally aware, compassionate, and structured therapeutic support. Tim
believes in a collaborative, warm, and empowerment‑focused clinical style, working alongside
clients to build insight, strengthen coping skills, and foster resilience. He believes in drawing on
evidence‑based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing
Therapy (CPT), and Motivational Interviewing, integrating these approaches to meet each
person’s unique needs and goals. Tim’s training in Trauma‑Informed Care guides him in creating
a safe, respectful, and steady therapeutic environment where healing can unfold at the client’s
pace.
