I use CBT, family systems theory, ACT, narrative therapy, EFT, and strength-based approaches, and can incorporate spirituality if desired. Tom Kurtz holds a Master’s degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Chapman University. With over 30 years of experience, he ran a private practice offering individual, couples, and group therapy for various mental health issues. He developed a successful treatment program specializing in men’s issues, particularly for impulsive and compulsive sexual behaviors, and has worked extensively with community supervision teams at the district court level and he serves on a committee with a state board.
Tom’s counseling style is engaging, conversational, and flexible, working effectively with clients in-person or via Telehealth. He is a member of the Washington Mental Health Counselors Association and a Fellow of the Association for the Treatment and Prevention of Sexual Abuse. He is also passionate about sharing his experience by mentoring interns and helping them develop their skills in assessment and counseling.
